Exporting Text for Translations via XML

Postby James » Thu Sep 13, 2007 3:44 pm

Translating the text of a project is a fairly simple process.

Step 1: Open the project to be translated

Step 2: From the File Menu select Export | Text for Translation...
This will prompt you to specify an XML file to export all the text in your project.

Step 3: Translate this file into your new language.

Step 4: Create a copy of the project for the new language and open it.

Step 5: From the File Menu select Import | Text for Translation...
This will prompt you to load the translated XML file. After its selected it will replace all the text in your project with the translated text.

Note: Each line in the XML file will look something like this:

<message id="1">
Hello World
</message>

This contains both text and formatting information for the text in html format. The translator should just translate the text. In the above example this would be the words "Hello World"

Button text was added in VB6
