The Viewletin
An Inside ‘Take’ on All Things Viewlet
~by ViewletMarm
Every eLearning professional has heard of PowerPoint at some time in their careers. As we all know, PowerPoint (part of the Microsoft Office suite) is a software package designed to create presentations consisting of a series of separate pages or slides. Like ViewletBuilder, it makes is easy to create, collaborate and present your ideas in dynamic and visually compelling ways.

Now, you might be asking, "What does PowerPoint have to do with me as a Viewlet Author?" Well, maybe nothing at all, but I'm guessing everything. If you ask around, many professional trainers, trade show video designers, academics, administrators, secretaries, project managers...etc. still use this tool in their daily work lives. At the same time, they realize at some point that they need to take these slideshows to the next level. That is where ViewletBuilder comes to the rescue.

ViewletBuilder Enterprise edition allows Viewlet Authors to directly import (.ppt, .pptx) PowerPoint files and, in just a few clicks, convert them into Viewlet project slides. Once converted to Viewlet project slides, Viewlet Authors can them work on their project just like any other Viewlet project.

Creating a New Project from PowerPoint Slides (Using ViewletBuilder Enterprise)
1. Open ViewletBuilder Enterprise and select File > New.

2. In the New Project dialog, select the PowerPoint Project option.

3. Make your selections in the various tabs, including selecting your PowerPoint presentation.

4. Once you are done with the settings in the New Project dialog, click OK to convert your PowerPoint slides to slides in your new Viewlet project and then edit your project as desired.

One last tip: Once you convert your PowerPoint slides into a Viewlet project, you can take advantage of all the features within ViewletBuilder while editing your new project. And, if you ever need to, you can export out Viewlet slides as image file to easily import into your PowerPoint slides as well. The process goes both ways at ANY point in your eLearning design tasks.

That's it for this blog.

Until next time...
Happy Viewleting!
