An Inside ‘Take’ on All Things Viewlet

At the heart of any strategic question randomization in your Viewlets is an element known as the Random Question Slide. This is a specific question type slide used in ViewletBuilder8 (or later) and ViewletQuiz5 (or later). It allows you to randomly display questions, in different orders, each time a Viewlet is viewed.
How does this work? It's rather simple.
You start with some core design elements, which include:
For this example, we are going to assume that we already have various question banks, each populated with several question type slides. The next step is to add a design element that will allow the Viewlet to randomly 'pull' a question from each of these banks as the Viewlet plays. To do this:
The Random Question slides are now added along the main timeline after the selected thumbnail.

- Random Question slides along the main timeline
For this example, we are going to assume that we already have various question banks, each populated with several question type slides. The next step is to add a design element that will allow the Viewlet to randomly 'pull' a question from each of these banks as the Viewlet plays. To do this:
- Select a thumbnail along the main timeline. All Random Question slides will be inserted AFTER the selected thumbnail.
- Select Insert > Slides > Question Slides from the menu bar.
- In the Insert Questions dialog that displays, click the Add Question button.
- In the Question dialog, for the Question Type, select Random Question from the list.
- Select the Question Bank from which to pull the questions.
- Select the number of questions to pull from the selected bank.
- Click OK to close the Question dialog.
- Click OK to close the Insert Questions dialog.
The Random Question slides are now added along the main timeline after the selected thumbnail.
