An Inside ‘Take’ on All Things Viewlet

In its early days, literacy was primarily taught within the family unit. Formal education, at least in America, expanded beyond the family when the first schools opened within the thirteen original colonies in the 17th century. By the mid-19th century, brick and mortar academics expanded even more, providing opportunities for people to better themselves socially and financially. Now, in 2015, the diversity of educational offerings and access to it has never been better. Amidst all this, the educator has always played a vital role. And, as a result, the educator has always had to develop strategies to effectively pass on training content and skills. Some strategies have successfully endured while others have failed.

This brings to mind something a beloved teacher once said to me, "When in doubt, keep it simple." Such a basic concept, but one with such huge implications. And, one that as a Viewlet Author, you should also keep in mind when designing your eLearning videos.

If you are short on time, or just want a simple design approach to refreshing your learner's assessment options, ViewletBuilder8 and ViewletQuiz5 has the answer. There is a feature, called Choice Shuffling, that will mix up the order in which the learner's options to a question are shown each time the particular assessment slide is displayed to the viewer. Design it once by clicking the 'dice' icon (when available) and the Viewlet will do the rest.

Learn more about Choice Shuffling by viewing a Viewlet in the format of your choice:

ViewletBuilder8 and ViewletQuiz5 offer other design approaches to refreshing content auto-magically each time a Viewlet is viewed, but that's a topic for another time. For now, that's it for this blog.

Until next time...
Happy Viewleting!
