Are you looking for a special design challenge with your Viewlets? Do you have just a bit of XML coding experience or knowledge and some graphic artistry in your repartee of authoring skills? If so, get ready, here's something you might enjoy tackling. I call it, Mastering the Art of StyleBuilder.

StyleBuilder is a feature available in your Viewlet Authoring software. To access it, select Edit > StyleBuilder from the menu. This tool allows you to essentially modify many of the 'factory-installed' element styles to fit your own aesthetic. Now, this is not something we recommend for the feint of heart. You should have the following:

-Viewlet Authoring skills, including working with Question Slides
-Intermediate to advanced eLearning design/graphic art skills
-Basic XML coding skills
-Some Notepad (or similar text editing application) experience

Does this describe you? Yes? Then, read on.

Using StyleBuilder, you can unpack installed style files, modify the XML file and/or baseline graphic elements that make up the style and pack them back up for access when working in your Viewlet project. Seems easy enough, right? Well, before you dive in, I highly recommend you check out the demo at the end of this post that shows you an example of editing the font size used in a text field for Question Slides. Once you grasp the basics in this video, you will then have a better foundation to build upon if you decide to explore StyleBuilder further by customizing other project element styles.

StyleBuilder, the tool for Viewlet Authors extraordinaire! Are you up for the challenge?

That's it for this blog.

Until next time...
Happy Viewleting!
