An Inside ‘Take’ on All Things Viewlet

Let's get straight to the point. As an eLearning author, whether you use ViewletBuider or ViewletQuiz, most likely voice narration is an integral component of your Viewlets. Appealing to as many of the senses as possible, including hearing, is the best way to reinforce valuable content. But, what happens if your viewer has any type of hearing impairment--physical or introduced by their environment (say, a noisy office, for example)? What can you, as a Viewlet Author, do to workaround this? Well, if you are using ViewletBuilder8 or ViewletQuiz5, there is a solution.

If your Viewlet contains voice narration, you can add text that will display to the viewer. This text/feature is called Closed Caption and is very easy to set up. When you insert/record a new sound file, or open an existing sound file, in the dialog that displays, there is a option available that allows you to type in text that will be associated with that sound clip. When played back, not only will the sound be heard, but the Closed Caption text associated with the sound clip will display to the viewer.
