An Inside ‘Take’ on All Things Viewlet

Qarbon's authoring applications (ViewletBuilder and ViewletQuiz) offer many intuitive project creation tools and features. Did you know, however, that one of the most overlooked and often taken for granted tool is actually one you, as a Viewlet Author, use hundreds of times a day but may not even realize it? It's a special toolbar that works in sync with you as you go through the steps of project editing. It's called the Context Sensitive Toolbar.

The Context Sensitive Toolbar, which I like to call the Dynamic Toolbar, adjust its options based on your editing task. Unlike other static menu options and toolbars, this toolbar sits right below the Main Toolbar. And, as you work on your project, access to different features/tools along this dynamic toolbar change to match the project 'element' you are working on at any given time.

Want a quick way to test this toolbar? Just open an existing project in your Qarbon authoring application. Select a project element such as a slide, an inserted image, a message object, etc. Then, look at the second level toolbar, paying attention to the icons it displays. Next, select a totally different project element. What happens? Wallah! The Dynamic Toolbar magically changes with icons to allow you quick access to editing tools for your selection.

Okay, maybe it's not actually magic, does help when you have the tools you need right at hand while deep within the creative process. Don't you think?

There are myriads of Dynamic Toolbars available within ViewletBuilder and ViewletQuiz. We can't cover them all here, but you can see some examples of different Dynamic (Context Sensitive) Toolbars in action in one of the videos below. Just pick your viewing format!

Dynamically speaking...that's it for this blog.

Until next time (and all times in between)...
Happy Viewleting!
