An Inside ‘Take’ on All Things Viewlet

As a Viewlet Author, you know that one of the most important things you can do to engage your viewers is to add unexpected and exciting elements to enhance the learning experience within your Viewlets. Lucky for you that your eLearning authoring applications, ViewletBuilder and ViewletQuiz, allow you to do just that. Here's just one example.

Let's say you want to force the viewer to do something to interact with the Viewlet to get more information. Not only does this draw the viewer into your video, but also subtly reinforces the content (whether it be sales or training related, or just fun stuff) in your eLearning demo. One of the ways to do this is with a combination of graphics, viewer-introduced events and resulting actions.

For example, we are in the midst of the football season. Maybe you want to pass on some fun facts to your viewers related to this, but also want to make them 'work a bit' for it. This is easily accomplished (kind of like your favorite team's 'trick plays') in a few steps.

I have a video tutorial that you might want to try. It will show you how you can take an image (like a football) and set it up so that when the viewer (on Viewlet playback) rolls their mouse over the image, a short history of football displays for their reading pleasure. Watch this video to learn how.

Play with it and see where it takes you. You may find by introducing similar events and actions into your eLearning Viewlet demos that you'll be making touchdown after touchdown with your own Viewlet fans!

That's it for this blog.

Until next time...
Happy Viewleting!
