ViewletBuilder7 and ViewletQuiz4 use an SDI process. What this means to you, as a Viewlet Author, is that when working on a Viewlet project, ViewletBuilder7 or ViewletQuiz4 uses a Single Document Interface so you can have only one project open at a time in a single instance of your Qarbon app. This helps avoid corruption issues that might occur if you were able to paste elements / slides between projects.

But, what happens if you want to say, for example, share slides between projects? And, let's take this a step further, what if the slides of one project differ in size from the other project? No worries. There is a robust and intuitive tool already in place in ViewletBuilder7 and ViewletQuiz4 that allow you to:

  1. Import one or more slides with the same or different slides sizes into your current project
  2. Preview slides prior to selecting those to import
  3. Determine 'slide alignment' options for importing slides differing in size from those in the target project
  4. Import 'just' a copy of slides, leaving original ones in tact

The Import Slides feature (File > Import > Import Slides) pushes past any assumed limitations of SDI by providing customizable alignment options WITH the ability to preview and easily import slides of different sizes with various embedded elements seamlessly between your Viewlet projects in just a few steps.

Watch this video to see how easy it is to import slides between Viewlet projects.

In a future release, our dev team is looking to enhance this process, moving from an SDI to an MDI (Multiple Document Interface) model to make Viewlet authoring even easier.

That's it for this blog.

Until next time...
Happy Viewleting!
