An Inside ‘Take’ on All Things Viewlet

Everyone knows that ViewletBuilder7 creates dynamic Flash videos, but there are many more ways to use ViewletBuilder when creating eLearning courses—and in ways you might not expect. That is the topic of this blog.

As a Viewlet Author with more than 10+ years experience, while working with hundreds of clients in diverse fields, I have come up with numerous ways to use ViewletBuilder outside the box. For example, did you know that you can use ViewletBuilder to ‘grab a graphic’ such as a toolbar from an application window for use as a slide element within other Viewlet projects? This is actually done in a few easy steps:

-Open your target application that has the image you want to grab.

-Create a new screen capture project using ViewletBuilder.

-Select a slide size for the active capture, such as ‘Window – Select a window to capture’.

-Select the ‘Simple’ capture profile (or one that uses Manual Capture mode with no cursor animations).

-Start the capture session and select the ‘area’ of the window that you want to capture.

-Use your hotkey to capture the screenshot.

-End your screen capture session.

-Save the project.

-Use the Publishing Wizard to publish out as an image file (BMP, JPG, PNG, TIFF).

-Open another Viewlet project and insert the newly published image into the project as a slide element.

That’s it for now.

Until next time...
Happy Viewleting!
