My viewlet doesn't work correctly when running locally

Postby Jo » Fri Feb 15, 2013 7:44 am

Viewlets launched from a local file may not work correctly due to browser security measures. For previewing SWF Viewlets from local files, the Flash player needs to have a trusted folder set. ViewletBuilder and ViewletQuiz automatically take care of the trust settings for your publishing locations, but if you move your output files to a new location that is not trusted, your Viewlet may not work correctly.

Note: Once the file is on a website, it will work correctly.

If you use the Chrome browser, you will need to take an additional step. Chrome has a built-in Flash player which has a higher security level for locally running Flash files. You need to disable this built-in Flash player. In the address bar type chrome://plugins and look for "Adobe Flash player". Expand details by clicking the "+" button on the right. You should see a list of all the Flash Player versions, where you can see the "type" of the Flash player. The built-in is "PPAPI". Disable this one. The NPAPI player should be enabled.
