VB authenticates in the viewlet via the log in panel

Postby Tim » Wed Jun 14, 2006 7:11 pm

Typically a user authenticates in the viewlet via the login panel. The username they enter is passed
along to the SCORM, AICC or the Qarbon Email Reporting System.

A customer may rather authenticate the user via a back end process on their web server. They can do this
via some custom login page that they create before serving up the web page containing the Viewlet.

They will then most likely want to pass the authentication onto the Viewlet so that the username gets
passed along to the specified reporting system.

This can be accomplished by adding the parameter ?student_id="username" to the URL that servers
up the Viewlet SWF file. The backend process will need to populate the username variable.

If you take a look at the HTML generatd by ViewletBuilder you see some HTML as follows:
The student parameter goes in the places specifed in red.

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase=",0,0,0" width="640" height="496">
<param name="movie" value="myviewlet.swf?student_id="someStudent">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff">
<embed src="myviewlet.swf?student_id="someStudent" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="640" height="496" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="">
