How do I get ViewletBuilder4 to work on Vista/Win7
If you have recently upgraded to a new PC and want to use your old ViewletBuilder4 program, here are a few tips.
Make sure you are using version 4.5.11
http://www.qarbon.com/download/past_releases_registration.php?product=Past%20Releases
1) The software will install and launch fine but when you try to Save your project it will crash with a message like this:
If you click to open the Bug Report, it should look like this:
Not sure how to open the report, just click the icon to the right of the file location:
2) To resolve this error, you will need to configure ViewletBuilder4 to run in a Windows 2000 Compatibility Mode. The default XP mode will not work.
3) Restart ViewletBuilder4
If this does not work for you or you would like to benefit from all the new features available in the latest releases, you can upgrade here:

Re: How do I get ViewletBuilder4 to work on Vista or Win7
Additionally we've seen that Vista User Account Control aka UAC can prevent the hotkey during screencapture from working.
UAC is a security feature in Vista that pops up prompts asking the user if they'd like to perform an administrative task. The hotkey feature during ScreenCapture requires lowlevel access to your system.
Here is a link that describes a few techniques for disabling UAC.

You may want to turn UAC back on after you finish using ViewletBuilder4.

Some users may also need to turn off Look and Feel emulation. You can do that with the following steps
1. Click on the Windows7 or Vista Start Button.
2. Type "Notepad" into the search box that says "Search programs and files"
3. When "Notepad" is displayed, right click on it and select select "Run as administrator"
4. Select "Open" from the File menu and navigate to the ViewletBuilder4 install directory.
This will be something like:
C:\Program Files\Qarbon\ViewletBuilder4
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Qarbon\ViewletBuilder4
5. In the "Open" dialog, where it says "Text Documents (*.txt)" change this to "All Files (*.*)"
Then you should see a file named "ViewletBuilder4.ini"
Click on this and open it.
6. This file has some very long lines, you may want to turn off word wrap to make it easier to follow.
You can do that by making sure "Word Wrap" is unchecked in the "Format" menu.
7. Look for the line that starts with "Virtual Machine Parameters=" it should be the 5th line from the top.
8. Go to the very end of this line, and add the following text:
-Dqarbon.nolaf=true
Be sure there is a space before the -D. So the line will look something like this:
7. Close and save this file.
If you got an "Access denied error" you didn't open Notepad up as administrator. See step 3.
1. Click on the Windows7 or Vista Start Button.
2. Type "Notepad" into the search box that says "Search programs and files"
