FLV file does not play after publishing

Postby Carol2 » Tue Sep 29, 2015 3:43 am

Hi

When I have created and published a project which has a .flv file embedded, the .flv file does not play on any PC other than the one it was published on.

Can anyone help at all please? I'm using Viewlet8 Enterprise version.

Thanks

Carol

Carol,

Viewlets with embedded objects (FLV/SWF) require that the Viewlet be running from a trusted Flash location because the SWF file needs to access the local filesystem which is not allowed unless a we setup the location you are playing it back from as ok. When you put the files on a server or share with someone else they don't have the same trusted location setup so the embedded files can't playback. Viewlets are setup to run from a webserver (http://) where the trusted location is not needed so they work. Here is an example: http://www.viewletcentral.com/vc/viewlet/768424236/

If you know the Viewlets final destination is a local filesystem vs a website then check the Local Access Mode option and republish.

Hello,

I am using ViewletBuilder 7 Professional and trying to publish a module with an embedded FLV file. I have my project properties set with "Local Access Mode" checked since the FLV is saved in a network folder. I am able to "Preview in Browser" and see and hear the video just fine, but when I publish the module and then try to view it from our LMS, it loads the module with an X in place of the video.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello,

You wouldn't use Local Access mode once you publish it to the web. I assume the LMS is run from an http:// location?

Local access mode works better when testing from a network drive or local.
