Accessibility Feature - Closed Captioning

Postby Jovana » Fri Nov 02, 2012 6:45 pm

I noticed some discussion in 2008/2009 revolving around the development of a Viewlet skin that would allow for closed captioning but am not yet aware of the existance such a skin.

As a workaround, we've placed a small "CC" icon which displays the narration as text within a bubble on rollover. This solution has worked out relatively well but obscures content on the slide at times. We've received feedback indicating that it has been an issue for some users and are very hopeful that a dedicated area for closed captioning will be integrated into the skin.

Is this still in the works or does the skin with CC already exist?

Jovana,

We are working on a fresh new Skin design for ViewletBuilder8 that will be accessible by screen readers and support closed caption text playback. I will make sure its noted that you would prefer a separate area for this rather than appear over the Viewlet like we had been planning.

We will be releasing a skin for ViewletBuilder7 that supports screen readers well (for 508).

Hi James,

Thanks for your reply. Do you know when we can expect the new skin?
